Creating Your Vision Board

The key to success in small business is to set yourself up for longevity. Creating a vision board is a fun practice in taking the time to acknowledge the big goals you have for yourself and to see your dreams come to life! 

Take some time to write down the goals that you have for yourself and your business… nothing is too big! This process can increase your understanding and awareness of what you want for yourself and for your business. 

Don’t forget to add in elements that also represent the mind, body, and spirit of your dream life. As a business owner, your work and personal life seem to always intertwine… so make sure to add personal goals and aspirations too! 

BEFORE YOU START - PICK YOUR PLACE! 

Before you start creating, pick a place that you want your vision board to live. This might determine what kind of materials you use and what size you want your background to be. 

Try choosing a spot that you see everyday. If it’s a digital vision board, the background of your phone or computer are my top picks. If you create a physical vision board, your bathroom mirror, your bedroom door, your refrigerator, etc. are all great spots. 

DIGITAL VISION BOARD 

Create a digital vision board that includes everything you would want to see in the next year of your career as a muralist. When you’re making your digital vision board, write down some keywords that come to mind when you think of your dream life (travel, murals, fitness, consistency, money, family, confidence, etc.) Type them into Pinterest, Instagram, and Google and take screenshots of images you resonate with.

PHYSICAL VISION BOARD 

If you prefer to set down the screen for a bit and work with your hands, carve out some time to create a physical vision board. Here are some examples of items that you can add - handwritten words, paint, fabric swatches, stamps, postcards, journal pages, quotes, yarn, twine, ribbon, magazine clippings, drawings, post-it notes, dollar bills, dried flowers, logos, photographs… the options are truly endless!
